The 28th Annual Santa Fe Symposium, sponsored by Rio Grande, took place May 18–21 in Albuquerque, N.M., and now 23 papers from presenters—on topics ranging from bench myths to developing a harder sterling silver alloy—are available for download. (Additionally, information about future speaker proposals, sponsorship opportunities, and scholarships will be available soon at santafesymposium.org.)
The event aims to bridge competitive divides and foster learning, invention, and friendship, according to Rio Grande, and topics covered this year included 3-D printing and best practices in casting, among other technological advances. For the first time, winners of the 2014 Saul Bell Design Award (also sponsored by Rio Grande) attended the symposium as part of their prize package.
The 2015 Santa Fe Symposium will be held May 17–20 in Albuquerque.
