Amazon Offers Gift Cards as Deliveries Miss Christmas

As couriers were swamped by an upsurge in shipments, Amazon.com is offering $20 gift cards and shipping refunds to any customers whose packages missed their expected Christmas delivery date, according to Bloomberg.

Amazon added it is “reviewing the performance of the delivery carriers” after widespread complaints of delayed deliveries.

In a Dec. 25 service update, United Parcel Service admitted “the volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity of our network immediately preceding Christmas so some shipments were delayed.”

Delivery delays were also reported at FedEx, which caused irate consumers to complain on the company’s Facebook page.

“I was guaranteed to have my Christmas gifts before today,” one wrote. “According to your tracking it even made it onto the truck the 23rd and 24th. All I got from customer service was a pathetic apology.”
