The World Diamond Council, which represents the industry in front of the Kimberley Process, has elected Alrosa exec Andrey Polyakov as its vice president.
Polyakov is vice president of the Russian diamond producer. Per the group’s bylaws, Polyakov will succeed president Edward Asscher, when the latter’s two-year term expires in May 2016.
Polyakov replaces Andrew Bone, who left to head the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Corporate secretary Udi Sheintal was named WDC general counsel, replacing Jewelers Vigilance Committee CEO and president Cecilia Gardner, who stepped down from the role in June.
