Brands will be able to quickly notify the company of counterfeit products
Alibaba, the online marketplace, has expanded its system to fight counterfeit products on its site.
The company is introducing a program called IP Joint-Force System, which will assign an account manager to brands that are prone to copyright infringement. The account manager will work with the brand directly to go after counterfeit products on the site. The program is an expansion of the company’s Good Faith Takedown initiative, which gives brands priority access to its counterfeit reporting and removal tools.
“The system allows brands to identify the authenticity of a product and easily notify Alibaba of the infringing listing,” according to a statement from the company. “Alibaba will then initiate the Good Faith Takedown process and immediately remove the listing without required subsequent correspondence with the brand. This two-way communication stream is critical in creating a feedback loop that will continue to improve the speed and accuracy with which Alibaba is able to determine the authenticity of a product.”
