Rick Krementz, president of the American Gem Trade Association, has appointed a search committee to consider candidates for its executive director position, as a result of the recent resignation of Douglas K. Hucker.
The chairman of the committee is Omi Nagpal, Omi Gems. Other members are Barbara Lawrence, Boston Gems and Findings, Inc.; Kambiz Sabouri, Gem 2000, Inc.; Joe Orlando, Stuller, Inc.; and Sampat Poddar, Byrex Gems, Inc. The committee is compiling a new job description to incorporate the existing challenges and opportunities the executive director should expect to manage in this dynamic environment.
“We are excited about the new vision and brand that our board of directors has adopted,” Nagpal said. “We expect our search to define the individual who can understand the complexities of our Association and the dynamic growth that is anticipated.”
