AGS Member Store Andrus Jewelers in Salinas, California, to Close

After six decades, Andrus Jewelers in Salinas, Calif., is closing its doors. The family-owned store, a member of the American Gem Society, will shutter after a going-out-of-business sale takes place in November.

President/second-generation jeweler Jeff Andrus told the media this week that he will retire to pursue other interests. “The decision to close our family business was one of the most difficult I’ve ever had to make,” he explained. “My parents, Alva and Rosemary, opened the doors to Andrus Jewelers during the ’50s, so I literally grew up in the business. But it is time for a decisive move.”

The shop was voted Best Jewelry Store in the Salinas Readers’ Choice Awards for the last five consecutive years.

“We have been privileged to participate in so many important milestones in their lives, and have our own wonderful memories of those experiences,” Andrus continued. “We look forward to assisting everyone for one last time during the sale.”
