AGS Honors Eight Members with the Fellow Award

The Fellow Award, an annual award of distinction recognizing outstanding contributions and service to the jewelry profession, the American Gem Society, and the recipient’s community, was given to eight AGS titleholders at the organization’s 73rd Annual Conclave on April 27.

The following American Gem Society titleholders received the Fellow Award in 2007: Paul Cohen, Certified Gemologist Appraiser, Continental Jewelers, Inc.; Jan Fergerson, Certified Gemologist Appraiser, Ford, Gittings & Kane Jewelers; Charles Lacy, Registered Jeweler, Lacy & Co.; Bill Sites, Certified Gemologist Appraiser, Sites Jewelers; Gene Starnes, Registered Jeweler, Starnes Jewelers; Jeff Abell, Certified Gemologist, Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers, Inc.; Tom Gorman, Certified Gemologist, Keppie-Kiger; and Carl Greve, Emeritus Certified Gemologist, Carl Greve Jewelers.

“Fellow Award recipients are individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to high ideals and purposes—they should be recognized before their peers in celebration of their achievements,” said Ruth Batson, AGS executive director and chief executive officer. “The jewelry industry and the science of gemology are sustained by such magnanimous people as these.”
