These days, it’s hard to come by upbeat news relating to jewelry and style. But this little gem appeared in my inbox and reminded me that there are opportunities to not just build business, but to do so in a charitable and cost-conscious way.
Pandora, known for its charm jewelry, has partnered with OneWorld Health, a non-profit pharmaceutical company aiming to bring medicine to the world’s poorest communities in creating a OneWorld Health charm. The silver charm features swirls and geometric shapes that mirror the microbes the company seeks to defeat. Pandora donates a quarter of each sale to OneWorld Health (charms are a wallet-friendly $80).
For Mother’s Day, Pandora will launch its “Charm Your Mother and Save a Life” campaign that appropriately marries giving back and honoring mothers.
It’s encouraging to remember that the sentimentality inherent in jewelry can withstand tough economic times, and that our industry has the opportunity to celebrate that fact stylishly and charitably in price conscious ways.
