The 92nd Street Y’s Jewelry Center is accepting applications for its 2025 Jewelry Artist Residency, which provides an emerging or established designer with a studio-based practice in New York City for one month. Deadline to apply has been extended until March 31.
During the residency, which runs from Aug. 14 through Sept. 18, the jewelry designer will have the opportunity to develop a new body of work or complete research while engaging with New York City’s cultural community. The residency includes round-the-clock access to a private working space, along with a studio apartment in the 92NY Residence and travel expenses to and from New York.
“Now in its seventh year as the only residency devoted to jewelry artists and based in New York City, we welcome submissions from the United States and around the world,” said Jonathan Wahl, director of the 92NY Jewelry Center, in a statement.
A jury selects the jewelry resident based on artistic merit and promise as well as the impact that the New York City environment could have on the their work. The winning artist will receive notification by mid-April.
The resident jewelry artist will be able to share their aesthetic, technique, and designs with other professionals during a two-day lecture and workshop at the 92NY Jewelry Center during the last weekend of the residency and in meetings with representatives of cultural institutions.
Previous recipients of the 92NY jewelry residency were Shin-Ryeong Kim (2024), Sungho Cho (2023), Alexander Blank (2022), Claudia Lepik (2019), Ineke Heerkens (2018), and Göran Kling (2017).
The 92NY Jewelry Artist Residency is supported by 92NY board member Kathy Chazen. From its beginnings as a single metalworking class in 1930, the Jewelry Center—the oldest open studio in New York City—has grown into the largest and most highly regarded program of its kind in the nation.
