9.14 Carat Pink Sells for $18.2 Million at Christie’s

The buyer has named the stone the Light of Memory

An Asian private buyer has named the 9.14 ct. pink diamond he purchased at auction last week the Light of Memory.

The anonymous buyer purchased the gem over the phone from the Christie’s Nov. 15 sale in Geneva.

“The pink diamond, now known as the Light of Memory, established the second-highest price for a pear-shape pink diamond sold at auction and also demonstrated the continued demand for exceptional stones,” said Rahul Kadakia, international head of Christie’s jewelry department, in a statement. “Quality and rarity, combined with provenance and freshness to the market, defined the success of the auction.”
