I know, I know. You’re probably getting a little tired of seeing Fashion Week stories. But bear with me—cubicle coverage is all I have! I’ve gone back and forth between being overwhelmed and intrigued by all of the blog posts, articles, tweets, Instagrams, and Snapchats of all the goings-on in New York. I get a bit envious about missing out on the events and have come to accept that I probably won’t ever be sitting in one of those coveted runway seats (I’m not even asking for front row!). But then I pull myself together, realize that I have this wonderful world of jewelry to be thankful for, and practice this mantra: If you can’t join ’em, write about ’em! So that’s what I’ll do. Awards season is upon us, people, so I’m talkin’ gowns. And today, I fancy myself something of a celebrity stylist: I’ve chosen five gowns from the runways that I would love to see on the red carpet sometime soon—naturally, with the jewels to match. I won’t be disappointing any of my fellow Twitter friends, who, year after year, join me in complaining about diamond studs and the like. Here are the mega-combinations that would be wonderful to see. Now, which celebrities would you put in these?
I want a stylist to alter this and take off that weird capelet thing, and then I want someone amazing like Cate Blanchett to wear it to the Academy Awards. She’ll probably wear Chopard jewelry (one of her favorites), but in case she’s listening, here are my suggestions anyway.
I actually can’t tell if this is a gown or jumpsuit, but I like it either way (and I actually kind of wish it was the latter). Someone like Julia Roberts or Julianne Moore would rock this very well. I’d like it clasically styled with a pop of red lipstick and some mega diamonds. Its more casual nature would make it perfect for something like the Golden Globes.
I want to see Adele in this at the Grammys because rumor has it (get it? ha), she has a new album coming out this year and so our queen will be returning to the red carpet. This is one of those dilemmas though, where everyone wants a necklace because of the off-the-shoulder style, and the dress is just so crazy busy. I’m thinking a stand-out pair of earrings and some blingin’ bracelets.
Emma Stone, right? I feel like this has her written all over it. The sheerness of the skirt is too informal for the Oscars, so maybe, like, the Grammys? Emma probably wouldn’t be there, but in that case, Taylor Swift can have it.
This is kind of bonkers and vaguely mermaidish but I just really want to see this glitter on Lupita Nyong’o—even if it probably belongs on a more casual red carpet like the MTV Video Music Awards.
