For those who have yet to warm up to the trend, or who’ve even dismissed it, I get it. Instead, the trend exploded, and I feel pretty good about the idea that it isn’t going away anytime soon.

The look popped up every so often on the red carpets in the past couple of seasons, but in my opinion it was solidified at Monday’s Emmy Awards ceremony, during which a huge number of stars seemed to forgo the traditional (awe-inspiring) show-stopping drop earrings for a more fashion-forward look. The idea of an ear adornment of sorts of course isn’t anything new; some designers have been creating them for years and then some. But it’s gone Top 40, mainstream, worldwide.
