My Top 3 Predicted Trends for JCK 2025

Share

I love when I correctly predict a handful of trends from Jewelry Week in Las Vegas—after months of leafing through jewelry images and conversing with hundreds of brands, it’s incredibly satisfying. Ultimately, though, I love it even more when I’m wrong.

Maybe wrong isn’t the word I’m looking for, exactly; I just love being surprised. One of my favorite post-Vegas pastimes is recounting the notable trends from the show floor that I didn’t necessarily foresee—the ones that seemed to trickle in, like breadcrumbs that ultimately led to one hell of a fully baked trend.

I hope to collect some crumbs this year, the unpredictable tides that carry us away to fantastic and exciting places. For now, though, there is only what I can forecast. Some of these styles might be obvious, some not so much because they’re in the early stages, but I’m excited to get my hands on all of them this week, as together we viva Las Vegas.

All things brown

I am obsessed with brown this year. I know it’s a bit predictable, a shade of brown being Pantone’s Color of the Year and all, but the consistent appearance of brown has won me over, and the color is proving itself a fantastic alternative to the LBD and a grounding hue in an otherwise colorful wardrobe.

In jewelry, brown is even more compelling—brown diamonds, quartz, tourmaline, and my current personal favorite, tiger’s eye. Whether or not the occurrence of brown represents a trend is sort of self-fulfilling prophecy: I’m searching high and low for it, therefore I will find it. In Vegas, I’d like to find it in abundance.

Jade

Jade is the gemstone I’m banking on for 2025. Its apparent growing popularity is, to me, one of the more exciting developments to come out of the jewelry world lately. “We’ve leaned into the unique tone of jade, which we’ve found perfectly complements Montana sapphire,” Stephanie Major, marketing director for Parlé, told me via email. “It brings a soft richness to the palette while delivering a bold, high-impact look.”

It’s interesting that Major mentions Montana sapphire, because that was unequivocally my favorite gemstone highlight from the shows in 2023. And now I’m anticipating the gem to match it—jade—will find a place in my 2025 postshow recaps.

Gold alternatives

This goes without saying, but I’m hoping to see some creativity in how jewelers are getting around the high price of gold. I expect plenty of sterling silver and vermeil pieces, and maybe some beaded gemstone jewelry and styles that utilize materials like leather. Still, I’m yearning to be surprised by something completely unexpected. What does that look like? I have no idea, but I’m sure I’ll know it when I see it.
