24 Karat Club of Southern California to Honor 3

The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California will recognize three industry leaders—two veterans and one up-and-comer—at its 74th Annual Dinner Dance and Gala, which will be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Oct. 6.

Thomas Blumenthal and David Marcus will both receive the club’s Excellence in Service awards, and Dave Bindra (pictured) is taking home its Rising Star Award.

Blumenthal has been the CEO of retailer Geary’s Beverly Hills since 2003. He is the grandson of Fred and Ruth Meyer, who took over the business in 1953.

Marcus is the owner of Marcus Diamonds in Los Angeles. He was a driving force behind the formation of the Diamond Club West Coast and for several terms served as its president. He currently serves on the bourse’s board of directors.

“Tom and David have both made a tremendous impact on our industry and exemplify a high standard of professionalism, business ethics, and a commitment to excellence,” said Karen Signorino, the 24 Karat Club’s president, in a statement.

Bindra, the vice president of B & B Fine Gems in Los Angeles, will receive the Club’s Rising Star Award, which honors young local leaders who have shown passion and commitment toward the betterment of the industry.

“Dave is very deserving of this honor as he, in the ten years since he joined, has helped to grow B & B Fine Gems, the colored stone wholesale business his father and mother built, and has created a niche, boutique house that specializes in very fine-quality materials,” said Signoro.

Bindra is currently the president of the Los Angeles chapter of the GIA Alumni Association and is a member of the board of directors of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee.
