Artists in 38 professional and 13 student categories were
honored recently in the 2011 NICHE Awards, held in Philadelphia during
the Buyers Market of
organized by the Rosen Group, which also
publishes NICHE magazine for
of American craft.
The annual NICHE Awards ceremony, held February 18, 2011, and sponsored
by NICHE magazine, took place at the
Pennsylvania Convention? Center and included the presentation of the
annual Arts Educator of? the Year award to Lynda LaRoche, associate
jewelry and metals at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana,
Professional and student craft artists submitted nearly
1,600 entries for ?the 2011 competition. In December 2010, NICHE
announced 179 ?professional and 67 student finalists, who were invited
display? their work at the Buyers Market. Entries were judged on
excellence in surface design and in form, unique, original and creative
thought, and market viability (professional entries only). Winners will
featured in the spring 2011 ?issue of NICHE
