12.27 Carat Majestic Pink Diamond Goes on Sale for $7.85 Million

M.S. Rau, the New Orleans antiques and estate jewelry dealer, is putting a 12.27 ct. natural fancy pink diamond called the Majestic Pink up for sale in August.

The sale is being conducted in partnership with online luxury site 1stdibs.com.

The diamond can be viewed by the public on 1stdibs when the diamond goes on sale on Aug. 8. It can also be viewed in person Aug. 23–26 at the Baltimore Summer Antiques Show. The stone’s price is set at $7.85 million. The diamond has a grading report from the Gemological Institute of America.

The Majestic Pink is graded as a Type IIa diamond—one of only a handful of that type of pink diamond known to exist in the world—and is set in 18k rose gold and platinum.

A Type IIa designation means that the diamond lacks any trace of nitrogen, which can give a diamond a yellow tint, giving the stone greater optical transparency.
