If you haven’t already read JCK senior editor Jennifer Heebner’s 12 Jewelry Trends for 2013 (what are you waiting for?), you’ve missed out on an extensive, detailed list of what to buy, sell, and stock in your store this year. I’m bringing you some of the best on-trend jewels our exhibiting brands at JCK Las Vegas have to offer, straight from JCK Marketplace.
Trend #11: Hair Ornaments. With the recent rise of hand wraps, ear cuffs, and all other sorts of body jewelry, many of us are feeling the urge to get creative again with the placement of our adornments. Long pendants aren’t just for wearing down the front (think Jennifer Lawrence’s Academy Awards “backlace”), stud and drop earrings aren’t necessarily worn in matching pairs (like this asymmetrical look), and there’s an array of jewelry just waiting to adorn our hair. Sure, you have your tiaras and the versatile brooch, which can look fabulous pinned onto a headband or accenting a bun. But have you ever suggested that a customer dress up her mane with a necklace? It looks cool, I promise: Let me present exhibits A and B. This is by no means a new or uncommon idea. Many Renaissance portraits depict women coiffed with pearls. To get the look, I’ve rounded up 10 pieces from Marketplace—but don’t worry, I threw some traditional crowns and pins in there, too. Now, get styling!
