Every month from now until JCK Las Vegas 2013, I’ll highlight one trend from the 12 Jewelry Trends for 2013 post on my Style 360 blog—an editorial first look at new collections worldwide and expert market analysis on jewelry trends and new products.
Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel The Great Gatsby, in theaters May 10, has already piqued pop-culture interest in Art Deco designs, fringed fashion fantasies, and champagne-fueled good times. Tiffany & Co. hosted its own shindig last night in New York City, where it celebrated the release of its 2013 Blue Book Collection of 1920s-esque jewelry at Rockefeller Center; the jeweler fashioned styles for the film, including The Savoy, a diamond and freshwater cultured pearl headpiece with detachable brooch, inspired by a Native American design from the Tiffany Archives. (More inspired styles are offered in Tiffany’s Ziegfeld Collection.) Jewelry store owners can make their own heirloom and vintage-inspired statements through their own estate inventories and new numbers that give new life to old looks.
