The NYC hotspot Bagatelle and French jewelry company Mauboussin have collaborated to produce the world’s most expensive ice cream sundae.
The Mauboussin Mega Sundae, available May 1 for $1,000, includes vanilla ice cream, chocolate truffles, French macarons, Dom Pérignon Rosé sorbet with gold leaves, chocolate vodka sauce, and gilded brownies with fresh whipped cream. That’s the edible part, anyway.
The sweetest part of the sundae is a Mauboussin black steel and white gold ring. The ring is part of the Moi Non Plus/Toi Non Plus collection that also includes bracelets in black and white stainless steel.
Bagatelle and Mauboussin aren’t the first companies to capitalize on a jaw-droppingly expensive dessert. New York’s Serendipity collaborated with Euphoria in 2007 to create the $25,000 Frrrozen Haute Chocolate, which included a gold goblet, the base of which held an 18k gold bracelet with 1 ct. t.w. white diamonds and a gold spoon laced with white and brown diamonds. More on that and other intersections of jewelry and food here.
