Leave It to Cleavers: Le Vian Launches New Gemstone Cuts

Eddie Le Vian couldn’t contain his excitement last week when he IM’d JCK on Facebook about a new assortment of gemstone cuts being unveiled at Centurion Jewelry this week. “In 2010, Le Vian embarked on a year-long project to reinvent fine jewelry cuts,” he explained.

No stranger to innovation—Le Vian unveiled a 156-facet Portuguese cut several years ago—the new cuts feature unique interplays of shapes and angles that produce a “hypnotizing” effect, according to Levian. “People will want to stare at the gemstones,” he says.

Le Vian is showing the first four of eight new gemstone cuts in Salon 211 at the show. Each proprietary, copyrighted cut has been adapted for eight different gemstone shapes. An additional four cuts will be introduced at LUXURY at JCK 2011. Since the collection is so new, a limited sample of styles will be on display this week.

Half of the new cuts are considered to be part of the Arusha Exotics division of Le Vian, styles featuring less-common stones like zircon. Starting suggested retail prices for finished jewelry are $799 for the Le Vian cuts and $999 for the Arusha Exotics.
