Blush Pink & Rose Gold

“Think pink” this season as a soft version of the most feminine pastel emerges as a fashion favorite.

The December 2012 issue of Vogue provides a collage of eight actresses and one royal wearing the hue, reporting: “At First Blush: From chiffon to charmeuse, this fall red-carpet dressing is tickled pink.” The fashions pictured are from Armani, Chanel, Dior, Ferragamo, Marchesa, and Valentino. Vogue does not identify any of the jewelry pictured.

The December 2012–January 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar reports that (pale) pink is “the season’s new hue. Among the jewelry spotlighted is a ring of rock crystal quartz, angel skin coral and diamonds in 18k yellow gold from Kara Ross Fine Jewelry; a pair of rose quartz and gold-filled earrings from Anna Pellissari; a long gold necklace studded with quartz from Pomellato; and rectangular drop earrings of 18k rose gold set with emerald-cut stones from Irene Neuwirth.

The October 2012 issue of InStyle provides a two-page “color crash course” in petal pink, noting: “This season, designers are proving this ultra-feminine shade can work year-round.” A gold-plated ring set with chalcedony from Betty Carre is featured on the first page of the article.

The second page of the InStyle article features an assortment of rose gold-plated cuffs from Jennifer Fisher.

Rose-colored accents are the style recommendation for stylish women of a certain age in the September 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Pictured are rose gold and gemstone earrings from Tacori and a pink-strapped wristwatch from Hermès, along with a diamond bracelet from Kimberly McDonald for Forevermark that does not appear to include the pink hue. On the left side of the page, sapphire blue is the color highlighted. Pictured are long rectangular earrings from Irene Neuwirth and a bracelet from Camilla Dietz Bergeron.

Rose gold is, of course, the perfect accompaniment to blush pink fashions. “You Deserve This” urges the September 2012 issue of Ladies’ Home Journal: “Yes, you can use your cell phone to check the time, but why not make your wrist happy this fall with a big statement piece in ultra-hip rose gold?” Pictured are rose gold-plated wristwatches from Calvin Klein, Skagen Denmark, Relic, Michael Kors, and Kenneth Cole.

In “A Touch of Pink” the December 2012 issue of InStyle features four wristwatches: “Blush-colored links soften the masculine vibe of classic steel-bracelet watches. Bonus: The rose-gold glow flatters any skin tone, and it acts as a unifying element if you’re the type who likes to mix her metals.” Featured are a stainless steel and rose gold plate watch from Raymond Weil; a stainless steel and rose gold plate watch from Burberry; a diamond, steel, and 18k rose gold watch from Hermès; and a stainless steel and 18k rose gold watch from Ebel.

Looking to the 1970s for inspiration, the November 2012 issue of Elle styles a slouchy menswear-style yet pastel-infused pantsuit from Stella McCartney with a pair of rose gold bracelets from Hermes and a silver and gold ring from Gurhan. The model wears a Belstaff blouse, Burberry London trench coat and Longchamp belt and carries a Gucci bag. The love beads are not credited.

The December 2012–January 2013 issue of People StyleWatch reports that actress Ashley Greene lets her rose gold necklace “stand out with a nude sheath and pumps.” Pictured is a rose-gold-plated pewter necklace from Karine Sultan. Also featured on the page is a black resin cuff with crystal detail from Lia Sophia favored by actress Zoe Saldana.

With or without blush pink fashions to coordinate with the precious metal, rose gold merits a place in every jewelry wardrobe.
