Bows Art

In my last post, we saw that a tiny pair of bow-shape earrings are appropriate adornment to the minimalist jewelry stylings of preppy fashion. Bows are taking over new territory in adding sophistication  and even a bit of edge to a look, when the bows are jewelry designs.

Thus the June 2012 issue of Good Housekeeping advises its readers: “If you think bows on clothes look more girly than grown up, try the newest take on the trend: jewelry that’s all about subtle sophistication, not sweetness.” The magazine features an oversize goldtone studded bow pendant necklace from Susan Graver for QVC and a tiny goldtone studded bow ring from Forever 21 (“so affordable, you can wear a stack for pile-it-on polish”).

The May 2012 issue of InStyle features an entire page of bow-themed jewelry deals: “Looking to sweeten your ensemble? Metal and rhinestone bows add a blush of innocence.” The jewels pictured are:  an enamel and gold-toned necklace from Brandy Pham; a rhinestone necklace from Lizzy Couture; leather and gold-filled rings from By Boe; a rhodium-plated bracelet from Laruicci; sterling silver earrings from Adina Reyter; an enamel and gold-plated bracelet from Rachel Leigh; a sterling silver ring from Tous; an enamel, metal, and rhodium-plated necklace from GirlProps.com; and a gold-plated cuff from Courtney Lee Collection.

The June 2012 issue of Marie Claire presents the “fashion résumé” of model-muse Annabelle Dexter-Jones, daughter of designer Ann Dexter-Jones.  Among her fashion picks is a bow-shaped ring from Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry and a chunky link bracelet designed by her mother.

“Bow-nanza” headlined a fashion spread back in the December 2011 issue of Elle magazine: “Permission granted: Play with doubled loops in every color, size and type for an anything-but-proper look.” Pictured are a blackened gold ring with black and white diamonds from Colette at Fragments, and tiered bow earrings from Delfina Delettrez. The model at left wears an embroidered silk dress and satin boots, both by Stella McCartney, with a necklace of sterling silver accented with enameled red lips from Lynn Ban and a white gold bangle with diamonds from Dana Rebecca Designs.

Both the enamel lips pendant and the print design of the Stella McCartney dress will be further addressed in upcoming posts. Some ensembles bring together in one look a bevy of noteworthy trends!
