RJC Looking for New Head as CEO Departs

The Responsible Jewellery Council is hunting for an executive director as a result of an overhaul of its structure.

Ashish Deo, who was appointed head of the group in June to replace founding CEO Michael Rae, has departed.

The new head of the organization will hold an executive director title, as opposed to CEO, and will work with long-serving chief operating officer Catherine Sproule. The group is also seeking a standards director, as Fiona Solomon, longtime director of standards development, left in March to become executive director of the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative.

It is also increasingly concentrating on India. It’s hired an Indian manager and is holding a conference on April 13 in partnership with the Bharat Diamond Bourse.

The RJC did not respond to a request for further comment from JCK.
