This list is, of course, purely speculative. Based on what I’ve seen coming into Marketplace over the last month, and the round-up of jewels comprising my upcoming preview of JCK Las Vegas 2015 (stay tuned!), I’m gathering an idea of the styles to be on the lookout for while patrolling the show floor in May. Keep an eye out for my annual post-show roundup of the trends that actually glittered in Vegas this year, and we’ll see how lucky I was with my guesses, which you’ll find below.
Negative Space
See my blog post on the negative design trend. More than a prediction, this is a guarantee. There is no way you can take a stroll on the show floor without bumping into styles like this—which is fine by me; I find it particularly compelling.
Rainbow Connection
Jewelry that is composed of three or more differently colored gemstones catches the eye, especially this time of year, when we’re all reaching for something bright. I hope to see more artful pieces like this bracelet from Petra Class Jewelry; its mosaic of gemstones is an unexpected mood booster.
Geometry
Geometric lines—triangular, in particular—are still taking shape in tons of new jewelry designs. Think not only singular triangles, but pyramid patterns and edgy spikes, too.
It Girls in Pearls
I know we’ve been talking about new pearl looks forever, but these designs, proving that pearls aren’t only for the country-club set, are so cool. When did pearl get a rep for being stuffy? Who knows, but consider it permanently free of that totally sour and inaccurate pedigree. These pearls are made for downtown dressing.
