In both bridal and fashion jewelry design, the hexagon is having a very good run this year. The sophisticated shape has connected in a big way with consumers and has been translated at every price point.
But there’s a hot, new geometric in town. Designers en masse are suddenly embracing a less lofty shape. In short, it’s hip to be square.
But certainly not bland, or even basic. Designers are using the square as a starting point for exciting pieces that play with elements and nuances such as negative space, mixed materials, and irreverent gem mashups.
