Target Corp. on Monday said sales at its stores open at least a year were in line with its expectations last week, buoyed by strong sales of pharmacy goods, food and jewelry, Reuters reports.
The retailer said its July same-store sales growth plan calls for a 3% to 4% increase at its key Target discount stores. The entire company, which includes its Mervyn’s and Marshall Field’s department store division, is expected to come in 1% below that range, Reuters reports.
Target said in a recorded call after the market’s close that its weakest selling areas for the week ended July 12 were men’s apparel, domestics goods and hosiery.
