Mother’s Day Proceeds Go To Library

Gallery of Diamonds in Costa Mesa, Calif., which sponsors the “Why Mom Deserves a Diamond” contest, donated $1,000 to the Orange County Public Library system in California. The contribution represents the proceeds from the sale of the new publication, “Why Mom Deserves a Diamond – The Legendary Contest.”

Since the contest began, sales of the yearly anthology have resulted in more than $27,000 in donations to help purchase educational materials on creative writing, nature, astronomy, world religions, and adoption resources.

Gallery of Diamonds president Michael Watson began the contest in 1993 as a tribute to his adoptive mother and his birth mother and as a way for children to express their love and appreciation for their mothers. The book is available for $26.95. Teachers may request entry forms for the 2004 contest. For additional information, visit www.galleryofdiamonds.com.
