JFC to honor Pattie Light at Facets of Hope event

Jewelers for Children, the industry’s charity, will honor Patricia Light at its Facets of Hope event June 5 at the Bellagio Hotel, during the JCK Show ~ Las Vegas 2005. Light was the first executive director for JFC joining the organization in 1999, when it was initially formed. She served until Sept. 2004, when she resigned to spend more time with her family.

“Pattie Light was synonymous with Jewelers for Children for nearly seven years. The charity and the industry, owe her a debt of gratitude for her efforts in bringing JFC to the point we are at today. We are very pleased to take this opportunity to recognize her significant contribution to the success of the charity.” said JFC Chairman Terry Burman, of Sterling, Inc.

Light will be recognized during the program at the Facets of Hope event. David and Sybil Yurman of David Yurman and Sue Gove of Zale Corp., will be recognized as guests of honor. The Facets of Hope event is the major fundraising activity for JFC each year and attracts more than 2,000 industry professionals. A review of the support JFC provides to their four legacy charities is also presented and each charity sends a child representative as their delegate.

“JFC was a labor of love for me and I’m proud of the wonderful work that has been accomplished since 1999. Working with a terrific group of people both in the industry and at the legacy charities proved to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’m honored and humbled that the board has chosen to recognize my work.” Light said. “I have the greatest respect for these people who give so much of themselves and I will always have a fondness for the charity.”

Jewelers For Children, formerly known as the Jewelers Charity Fund for Children, was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. Since its inception, JFC has donated over $14 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse, or neglect. This nationwide success is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations, jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals, and jewelry consumers.
