Serial burglars sought, reward offered

A five-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information that leads to the capture and conviction of potential serial burglars wanted for a heist of a jewelry store in a suburban Philadelphia mall, the Associated Press reports.

The latest break-in happened Tuesday between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. inside the Willow Grove Park Mall in Abington Township, Montgomery County, Pa., the AP reports. Police said the burglary matches similar robberies at jewelry stores in malls throughout the region.

Police reportedly said that six burglars must have been hanging out inside the Willow Grove Park Mall, after the Zale’s Jewelry Store had closed. Using a battery-powered saw, police reportdly said they horizontally cut through Zale’s locked security gate, and then shut down the circuit breaker, which stopped the security cameras from rolling. Then, police reportedly said, the thieves spent a half hour prying open jewelry cases, and stealing numerous rings, watches, and other expensive items.

The suspects fled in a black sports utility vehicle. A dollar amount for the losses at the store was not released.
