A Reno, Nev. pawnshop owner suspected of killing his wife and wounding the judge in their divorce case is now under arrest, according to various media reports.

FBI and U.S. Embassy officials say Darren Mack surrendered to Mexican authorities at his hotel in Puerto Vallarta at 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Mack is now the custody of the FBI and is expected to be returned to Nevada Friday. Prosecutors had thought Mack would surrender to a U.S. consulate office in Mexico on Thursday, but he never showed up. Police reportedly said Mack had been spotted in La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.

Judge Chuck Weller, who was handling Mack’s divorce, was shot on June 12 as he stood by a courthouse window. He survived the attack. Hours later, the body of Mack’s estranged wife was found in the garage of Mack’s town house.

When police searched the home they allegedly found boxes of ammunition and an empty gun case with a receipt for a high-tech rifle.

Mack was a co-owner of Palace Jewelry & Loan Co. Inc., a pawn shop, until he turned over control in 2005 to his mother, a lawyer for the business said. He had a net worth of $9.4 million as recently as 2004, according to court documents.

Mack also attended the JCK Show ~ Las Vegas, according to a gemologist Rodney Ackerman who shared a limo ride with Mack from a Las Vegas hotel to the show on June 7, just five days before Mack allegedly committed the murder and attempted murder. Ackerman recognized Mack watching a television news report about the incident.
