Dan Moyer’s jewelry store launched 30 years ago in a strip center, sharing a space with a hair salon. His specialty was gold chains and charms, a big difference from the tony brands that the president and chief executive officer of Moyer Fine Jewelers carries today. As the business matured, so did Moyer’s taste for fine merchandise, and the store today stocks 15 different watch lines, including Tag Heuer, Ernst Benz, and Cartier Watches, and bridal brands like Tacori, Hearts On Fire, and Jack Kelege. Additionally, Moyer’s present-day standalone location in Carmel, Indiana, houses 15 employees, including in-house bench jewelers, and three floors of space comprising a showroom, offices, and a full bar for events.
Before Christmas, the store held a three-day-long fete to mark its 30th year in business. A jazz band, black tie dress code, catered food stations, and the store’s full-service bar helped to make the affair festive.
Besides serving its community as an expert in luxury jewelry and watches, the retailer is also something of a specialist in the arena of hosting parties. "We’re known [in Carmel] for having good parties," says Molly Hahn, marketing director,. "We host at least one or two every month, and many feature [non-jewelry] vendors like Harley Davidson and Camacho Cigars, and donated giveaways for our customers."
