Freeman’s Important Jewelry sale includes property from a prominent Chicago family, various owners, and estates from across the country. The March 18 sale “is fueled by a focus on French postwar gold, specifically the technical mastery of the Georges L’Enfant workshop, which produced pieces for maisons like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels,” writes JCK’s Annie Davidson Watson. “L’Enfant designs are coveted for their sculptural, tactile quality. A standout lot in the Freeman’s auction, exemplifying the subtle force of the L’Enfant atelier, is a textured gold curb link necklace.”
The Jewelry Edit Foundation Silent Auction: Through April 16 (online)
Bid on the Jewelry Edit Foundation’s silent auction to win Emergence, a 6-by-8-inch watercolor on mixed media by the jeweler Michael Robinson, who recently hosted a master class for the foundation. “When the foundation invited me to donate a painting, I knew immediately what I wanted to express,” Robinson writes on the auction site. “My master class explores the search for one’s authentic spark, that quiet internal ignition where creativity is born. In this painting, I chose to portray that moment as a light bulb, not a symbol of invention alone but of awakening.”
