Hair Jewelry Is the Most Fun Purchase Shoppers Can Make This Holiday

Share

It’s the holiday season, so let the festivities—and the festive dressing!—begin.

For some events, people plan for months: just the right dress, knockout jewels, the perfect red lip. But other times—most times, if you’re anything like me—the running around that the holiday season demands calls for a bit of effortless glamour, the throw-on-and-go-but-still-look-nice kind. That’s where hair jewelry comes in.

Peruse any major retailer’s holiday style collection or blogger’s guide to dressing and you’ll find them—rhinestone barrettes; glossy, bow-bedecked claws; petite golden flower clips to give one’s mane a glow. It’s a banner year for hair accessories, but in our industry, we simply see hair as one more place to outfit with jewelry.

There are hair jewels made of precious materials, though for the average consumer, a fashion piece clocking in below $200 is more approachable for pairing with your best holiday fashions. All price points offer options to delight, from Suzanne Kalan’s multicolor sapphire pin to Saulė’s ’90s-style clip. In between is the indisputable queen of hair accessories, Jennifer Behr, with pieces that retail from under $100 to well over $2,000. Suzanne Kalan Frenzy hairpin

If shoppers are looking for more bang for their buck, the ever-present brooch can be relocated to their head—pin it on a headband, fasten it to an updo, even add it to a winter hat. The brooches below are certainly at home on a winter coat or sweater, but if you ask me, they practically look like they were made to decorate the hair.
