Taylor Swift’s Engagement Ring Designer Creates Pieces for Sotheby’s Auction

Share

Recently made famous for designing Taylor Swift’s engagement ring, Kindred Lubeck (pictured), the New York–based goldsmith behind Artifex Fine Jewelry, is more intimately celebrated for her sculptural silhouettes, antique sensibilities, and hand-engraved details that feel as personal as handwriting. Now she is taking her craftsmanship to a new stage through a collaboration with Sotheby’s.

Three one-of-a-kind gold rings by Lubeck debuted today as part of Sotheby’s Gem Drop sale, which runs through Nov. 13. There’s a ring with a 4 ct. old-mine diamond, another with an 8 ct. cognac diamond, and one with a 5 ct. blue sapphire. All the stones were sourced by Jogani, and together the rings—all hand-engraved—are estimated to achieve up to $300,000.

“I’ve always been drawn to the details, the things that make a piece feel truly special. Hand-engraving allows me to leave a piece of myself in every ring, transforming each gemstone into something unique that carries a story,” Lubeck said in a statement.

“Working with Sotheby’s for this capsule gave me the chance to bring that level of care and creativity to a larger audience, and I’m thrilled to share these pieces with collectors who appreciate both artistry and individuality.”

For Sotheby’s, the collaboration is as much about celebrating craft as it is about reimagining access. The Gem Drop series, which offers exquisite gemstones without a buyer’s premium, has become a monthly destination for collectors seeking brilliance with personality, according to the auction house.

“Today’s buyers actively search for jewelry that speaks to them—pieces with a story, a sense of individuality,” said Quig Bruning, Sotheby’s head of jewels, in a statement. “Kindred’s exquisite workmanship brings these jewels to life, elevating fine gemstones into designs that are unique, effortlessly timeless, and beautifully distinctive.”

The partnership continues in December, when two exceptional Artifex creations—a 5.14 ct. D-color diamond ring and a 2 ct. orangey pink diamond—will appear in Sotheby’s High Jewelry sale.
