Ulrich Wohn, the former TAG Heuer exec who was named president of Detroit watchmaker Shinola on Monday morning, isn’t taking the post “due to a highly urgent personal matter,” a company spokesperson told JCK later in the day.
Former Signet CEO Mark Light, who’s served as Shinola’s interim president since last year, will continue leading the brand until a replacement is found, the spokesperson says.
Light will work alongside Steve Katzman, CEO of Bedrock Manufacturing, parent company of Shinola and outdoor apparel brand Filson. Before becoming Shinola’s president, Light was Bedrock’s executive chair.
“We respect Ulrich’s decision and wish him well,” Katzman said in a statement.
Wohn was most recently North American president for Swiss army knife maker Victorinox. Prior to that, he served for eight years as North American president and CEO of TAG Heuer, which is owned by LVMH.
In September, Shinola appointed Jonathan Bailey, a veteran of Coach and Tiffany, as its creative director.
