Amit Pratihari, the former managing director of De Beers India, has been appointed managing director of GIA India.
In his new role, Pratihari oversees GIA’s gem labs in Mumbai and Surat, as well as the GIA India school in Mumbai. He reports to the GIA India board.
Pratihari succeeds Sriram Natarajan, who headed GIA India for five years. Natarajan was recently named GIA’s senior vice president of laboratory operations, based out of Carlsbad, Calif.
Pratihari joins GIA from De Beers Group, where he worked for 14 years. Since 2022, he had been managing director of De Beers India and Forevermark India, with responsibility for expanding the brand in the Middle East.
