Britt’s Pick: Eden Presley’s Fishbone Earrings

Share

It seems counterintuitive to revisit a summer fashion icon as we head into pumpkin season, but one look at these fun but in no way frivolous earrings from Eden Presley and you’ll understand why I had to.

The kind of statement jewel that catches the eye and holds it, so as to study every detail and element of construction, Eden Presley’s Fishbone earrings recall this year’s Sardine Girl Summer but easily transcend seasons and TikTok trends.

Building on Eden Presley’s popular Swedish Fish collection, this one-of-a-kind pair utilizes a combination of bubblegum pink spinel and dreamy turquoise for the vertically dangling fish’s body, and incomparable bright yellow vesuvianite for its head. I’m getting major Miami Beach vibes, and as that’s a destination for color and style all year round, these earrings shouldn’t be relegated to the back of the closet come winter.

The earrings’ whimsy is matched only by their craftsmanship—each tier of gemstones intentionally placed, gemstones symmetrically matched from ear to ear. When asked about the vesuvianite, which is not a stone you see every day, designer Gwen Myers said, “How could I not? It’s so happy—I fell in love with the color.”

Indeed, that cheery color is immediately striking. For those in the market for a motif without fins (though I can’t imagine why), Myers also created a pair of earrings featuring vesuvianite in a similarly sunny but less fishy style.

Vesuvianite is one of those rarely seen gems that feels necessary in every way, especially as we step into the time of year with less sunshine, drabber color schemes, and colder temperatures. The person fortunate to catch this pair will be so glad she did come winter.
