Jewelry manufacturer Vibhor has acquired Alor Designer Fine Jewelry, a luxury manufacturer known for mixing stainless steel with 14k gold, diamonds, and colored cables.
Financial details of the sale were not disclosed.
Vibhor intends to keep the Alor brand name, but Alor’s offices in San Diego will be closed and its operations will relocate to Vibhor’s headquarters in Fort Lee, N.J. Alor president Ori Zemer and senior vice president of design and sales Marilyn Harrell will stay with the company.
Zemer tells JCK he decided to sell the business because his parents—who founded it in 1979—were retiring, and he thought consolidating would be good for Alor overall.
“In this industry, you are much stronger as part of something than if you are an independent brand,” he says. “We looked at how you became stronger and began looking for a strategic partner. It finally came to fruition.”
Vibhor’s chief operations officer Vibhor Dhadda says that Alor will expand its product lines, cut down delivery time, and shave expenses by consolidating back-end operations with Vibhor. The two brands will introduce new collections this year.
