Basketball legend and businessman Earvin “Magic” Johnson will be the lead keynote speaker at the American Gem Society’s 2014 Conclave, the group announced.
The 80th annual AGS get-together will be held at the historic Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, Calif., April 23–26.
Johnson will speak about business, leadership, and his record of philanthropy, in a talk, “The Magic of Winning,” at the Conclave opening session on April 23.
“A legendary event in the jewelry industry deserves a legend for a keynote,” said John Carter, chair of the society’s Conclave subcommittee, in a statement. “Conclave’s theme in 2014 is ‘Be Different. Be Distinctive. Be Here.’ With Magic Johnson getting the show started, this Conclave will be like no other.”
