Pinterest Collaborates With AmEx On “The Comeback Edit”

Share

Pinterest has announced a partnership with American Express to curate the Pinterest Shop’s sixth edition of shoppable products, this one entitled “The Comeback Edit.”

Featuring over 20 merchants selling items users may be looking for in their post-pandemic lives, the shop was inspired by Pinterest searches for “how to support small business,” which increased a reported 50% year over year in May.

According to the Shop Small Summer Study from American Express, 75% of consumers surveyed said they would shop with small businesses more often if there were more ways to do so. Pinterest seeks to connect its users to small businesses, especially since 47% of small businesses surveyed said they were concerned about their profits over the next few months, as regular customers embark on summer travels.

“At American Express we understand how vital small businesses are to our communities and are always looking for opportunities to provide consumers with interactive and immersive ways to Shop Small,” said Walter Frye, vice president of global brand engagement & design at American Express, in a statement. “Inspiration plays a critical role in the decision process, and we know the Shop Small Summer Pinterest Shop will inspire consumers looking to support small businesses this summer.”

While the small businesses to be featured in this edit have already been selected—and two jewelry brands have been included: Oma the Label and Auvere—the edition’s product selections allow us to glean some insight into what shoppers may be searching for as they emerge from their quarantine cocoons.

As far as jewelry is concerned, it seems to be all about gold. Oma the Label offers a selection of gorgeously chunky fashion jewelry in gold-plated brass, while Auvere sells at a higher price point with fine jewelry in 22k and 24k gold. But both have a very wearable, everyday style that’s totally relatable and covetable for summer and beyond.

Two other jewelry items from non-jewelry-specific brands are included in the shop’s curation. A dog tag necklace by the brand Eumelanin is available in sterling silver or 18k gold vermeil, while a business called Casa Shop features an amber ring (which has since been sold). Each item highlights important aspects of jewelry currently in demand: The necklace is being offered by a Black-owned business, while the ring is a vintage find.
