For the eighth consecutive year, Chopard has created the Red Carpet collection in honor of the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2007, copresident and artistic director Caroline Scheufele introduced the first Red Carpet collection. Chopard has been an official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998.
This year’s collection takes inspiration from Italian film actresses of the 1960s and ’70s. As it is the 67th anniversary of the festival, the collection includes 67 pieces.
The pieces will debut adorning celebrities throughout the festival, both on the red carpet and at film premieres.
The masterpiece of the collection is the Riviera jewelry set, composed of a diamond necklace and matching earrings (pictured above). The set contains at least 100 carats of brilliant-, marquise-, and rose-cut pear-shape diamonds and required more than 1,000 hours of craftsmanship to create.
The brand also revealed a new piece in their Green Carpet collection, a line introduced in 2013 in collaboration with the creative director of Eco-Age, Livia Firth.
This year’s piece is a set of earrings featuring ethically mined white gold and 13.49 cts, of pear-cut diamonds with brilliant- and marquise-cut diamonds.
“All the stones are sourced from the IGC Group, one of the world’s oldest diamond firms. This group is a Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) member. Chopard has been a member of the RJC since 2010 and has just had its certified membership successfully renewed for a further three years,” according to a statement.
