Hal Rubenstein Shares His Style Savvy With JCK

Onetime InStyle fashion director Hal Rubenstein shared his fashion ideals on Thursday morning in an address entitled “The Influence of Fashion on Jewelry Design” at Mandalay Bay. The New York City–based Gabriel & Co. recently tapped Rubenstein to serve as global style director and curate some fine jewelry collections. While at JCK Las Vegas on the manufacturer’s behalf, Rubenstein made a quick appearance for retail attendees on Thursday.

During the show, Gabriel & Co. is unveiling five new fashion-forward fine jewelry lines curated by the style expert. Rubenstein’s own jewelry mantra is that women should wear their best jewelry daily instead of keeping it hidden away for special occasions. His picks—handmade offerings in 14k and 18k gold—reflect a variety of expertly mixed colors, textures, and finishes: the Byblos collection of silver and pastel-colored gemstones; the Kaslique collection of diamond-studded spikes and geometric shapes; the Saudade line of pavé-set diamonds, rubies, and sapphires; selections of gold with amethyst, blue topaz, green onyx, smoky quartz, and diamonds in Stellaré; and bold gold and diamond statement pieces in Amavida.

“The five new collections that I curated for Gabriel & Co are distinctive and
exclusive,” Rubenstein told the press. “All share a wonderful overriding philosophy that beautifully crafted jewelry is not to be stored and saved for specific occasions.”
