72nd Primetime Emmy Awards: Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC
What can we expect from the 2020 Emmy Awards in this topsy-turvy era? Heres’s what we know: Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the telecast from an audience-free Staples Center instead of the usual Microsoft Theater. There is no formal red carpet, but there is still red carpet–style coverage on E! starting at 4:30 p.m. ET. Since the interviews with stars will be happening via a number of platforms, this might be a chance to get up close and personal with the jewelry (a rare treat). And If the Emmys format is anything like the VMAs, there will be plenty to discuss.
Be Herd Unscripted: Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. ET
Hosted by jewelry designer Julie Lamb, this monthly Metal & Smith Instagram Live event kicks off Wednesday with luxury jewelry consultant Gurki Basra, formerly a senior fine jewelry buyer for Barneys New York, who is also an actress on Netflix’s Dating Around (yes, really!). Lamb’s gripping “Be Herd” interviews in response to the Black Lives Matter movement’s increased visibility championed the work of African-American designers; now the focus will be on all facets of the jewelry industry, and how its players are pivoting in a constantly evolving market.

#JewelryGeography Greenwich Village Virtual Walking Tour with Toni Greenbaum: Sept. 23, 6–7:30 p.m. ET
Hosted by The Jewelry Library, a New York City–based reading room and gallery catering to the jewelry community with hundreds of books and revolving exhibits, this virtual event is the first in a series that will look at the streets that compose New York City’s jewelry industry throughout history. The inaugural talk is led by jewelry historian Toni Greenbaum, author of the book Sam Kramer: Jeweler on the Edge (Arnoldsche Verlagsanstalt), who will take attendees to 1930s–1970s Greenwich Village, a mecca for studios and shops specializing in handmade jewelry.
