The sapphire, which came from Ceylon, is called the Blue Belle of Asia and is “one of the largest and most important sapphires in the world,” said Rahul Kadakia, international head of Christie’s Jewelry. “It is estimated to go for $7 million to $10 million.”
Other pieces of note: a 23.66 ct. Burmese ruby ring (estimated $5.5–$7 million); a very light pink diamond necklace (estimated $3.5–$5.6 million); and seven jewels by JAR, including a Gardenia ring (estimated $330,000–$390,000).
