Rio Tinto Diamonds Shutting North American Representative Office

The closure means Women’s Jewelry Association president Brandee Dallow is leaving the company

Rio Tinto Diamonds is shutting its decade-old North American representative office in the first quarter of the year.

“This decision reflects Rio Tinto’s continued focus on improved efficiencies,” said a Rio Tinto spokesperson in a statement. “We remain fully committed to the U.S. retail diamond jewelry market and will continue to work in partnership with our Select Diamantaires on marketing initiatives in the U.S.”

The New York City–based office was established in 2007.

Upon the office’s closure, Brandee Dallow, who has headed it since 2014 and is the current president of the Women’s Jewelry Association, will leave the company.
