Watkins Leaves Ritani

The former Blue Nile exec served as company president

Brian Watkins, the former Blue Nile executive who helped turn jewelry brand Ritani into a clicks-and-bricks rival, has stepped down as president of Ritani for personal reasons.

“Out of respect to his family, we cannot comment more on this matter other than to say we are grateful for his contributions in growing Ritani to its current state,” says vice president of marketing Mark Keeney. “Brian oversaw the company’s omnichannel platform launch in 2012 and played a key role in its initial stage of development, reaching $75 million in overall sales last year.”

The company has launched a “comprehensive global search” for his successor, Keeney says.

Watkins, a former Bain consultant, joined Blue Nile at its beginning in April 2000, eventually rising to vice president of merchandising.
