Gem Photographer John Parrish Dies

The Dallas photographer could “find the personality” in a piece of jewelry

On April 1, noted gem photographer John Parrish died following an accident on a camping trip. He was 65.

Portfolios of his jewelry work can be seen here, here, and on his Facebook page.

A note from his family said he was able to “find the personality, whimsy, and signature in a beautiful piece of jewelry, with the power to spark the imagination.

“John was an imaginative and creative person,” it said. “This is what he was professionally known for, and his ability as a photographer was internationally recognized.… But the kind of thing he wanted us most to imagine, and then to create, were those things that made life fun, more spicy—actual conversations instead of emails, connecting and listening to people versus client meetings.

“John was a man of integrity, friendship, and gifts,” it continued. “His passion, artistry, dedication to excellence, and creativity will live on in our memories, and in those to whom he taught and mentored. We are all better for having known him.”

He is survived by Trish, his wife of 27 years; daughters Karen and Kalia; and three sisters and their families.

Memorial gifts can be given in his memory to the Greenland Hills UMC Memorial Garden, 5835 Penrose, Dallas, Texas 75206.
