Signet Cuts 80 Jobs

It is also moving its Zale division to a new Dallas headquarters

Signet is reducing 80 positions at its Dallas; Akron, Ohio; and United Kingdom offices, it confirmed.

“Although we are performing well and just reported excellent holiday sales results, this was a difficult business decision but one we believe we needed to make,” said David Bouffard, Signet vice president of corporate affairs. “We remain focused on our previously stated priorities: achieving our Vision 2020 goals and realizing synergies and best practices as we transform into the organization of the future.”

He notes that the reductions affected less than two percent of employees at each of the business units.

News of the cuts first appeared in Akron Beacon Journal.

The company is also moving its Zale Corp. office from its longtime home in Irving, Texas, to Dallas, Bouffard said, confirming a report in The Dallas Morning News.

“The Dallas store support office lease expires in March 2018, so we have been working hard to locate new office space that meets [our] needs,” he says. “We are weeks away from executing a new lease and will begin construction of a new Dallas headquarters soon.”
