Shmuel Schnitzer Named IDI Chairman

Schnitzer just completed his fourth term as president of the Israel Diamond Exchange

Shmuel Schnitzer (pictured, right) has been elected chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), the nonprofit organization that represents all institutions involved in the Israeli diamond industry.

Schnitzer has served as president of the Israel Diamond Exchange (he just completed his fourth term) and president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses. He holds the position of honorary president for both organizations.

“I am pleased to continue to serve the Israeli Diamond Industry, especially during this period of economic challenge,” said Schnitzer in a statement. “However, I am certain that with the improvement in the economies of key markets, more balanced strategies on the part of the major rough diamond producers, and the cooperation of the entire industry, we will see much better results in the coming year.”
