AGS Lab Exec Director Peter Yantzer to Retire

Peter Yantzer, who established the American Gem Society lab in 1995 and led it for two decades, will retire this November, the group announced at its annual Conclave in New Orleans last month.

Jason Quick, AGS laboratory director, will become executive director. Quick was an instrumental member of the team that created the AGS light performance grading system.

Yantzer will continue as a consultant to the lab for the next three years.  In 2005, he won AGS’ Robert M. Shipley Award, its highest honor.

The lab also recently appointed Chuck Forbes as chief operating officer.
